Francesco Cusumano founded the business forty years ago. He is a winemaker with heart and soul. He believes in the Sicilian wine and has the firm conviction that one can produce top wines in Sicily. He worked hard on that goal. The leitmotiv of Cusumano is the Cru idea. For each grape variety the optimal location is determined. Cusumano thus started from the diversity of the terroir of Sicily.
He searched in Sicily for the regions that offer the best conditions for different grape varieties. There he bought vineyards. The estate has its own vineyards in outstanding locations near Partinico, Monreale, Piana degli Albanesi, Alcamo, Salemi, Butera and Pachino.
In the 90s, the sons Alberto and Diego entered the factory. The development accelerated. Cusumano equipped its winery to meet all the requirements of modern technology: temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, French oak barrels, air-conditioned storage cellars. The wines of Cusumano are among the best that Sicily has to offer in terms of wine. They have a lot of personality and carry their own handwriting. They have an incredible abundance of attractive, beguiling fruit flavors and the melting of the South.
