Colpetrone is one of the most important wine producers in Montefalco D.O.C.G. Area. Sagrantino, the indigenous grapevine from this area, is one of the oldest varieties in Italy with the highest percentage of tannins. High quality reproductive systems are used in the vineyards, yields of 6 tonnes per hectare, well below the prescribed limits of 8 tonnes per hectare. Sagrantino is produced in three different versions: Montefalco Sagrantino, Passito, a sweet red wine with an ancient tradition, and the selection "Gòld", which is the result of the most recent developments of this wine.
The new management of the winery has decided to delay the recent Sagrantino wines to optimize the expansion of wines in the cellar. So there will be no Sagrantino 07 and no Elite Gold.
